On October 17th and 18th, Lavender Contracting was onsite replacing the sewer line from the Bike Shop out to the Main line in the alley way. The existing pipe was over 50 years old and was showing signs of degradation and collapse. It was decided to be proactive and replace the pipe before installing the new epoxy flooring.

On October 27th, DESCO Coatings arrived to level the Bike Shop floor and prepare the surfaces for the epoxy installation. The work was completed in 5 days and the drying and curing phase of the project followed. We were able to move back into the Bicycle facility on November 14th. The improvement in safety and appearance is dramatic. Stop by and see the place if you haven’t already. White Lab coats are now the official garment of Bike Mechanics.

Many thanks to our two principal project donors, The Stollery Charitable Foundation and the Edmonton Community Foundation for covering the cost of these essential repairs!

The Sport Central Bike Shop also had two new Park Tool electric Bike Stands donated and installed recently. They improve workplace safety significantly by reducing the amount of lifting required by volunteers and staff. Below are some photos.
